These are the people in my neighbourhood.

I went out everyday for a week to capture nice moments and I wasn’t disappointed.

When you need that extra boost to get you through your day, all you need to do is sometimes open up your eyes! I learned this when I decided to actively search out the good within one week. I was pleasantly surprised when I didn’t have to search too hard.

While waiting for my husband to come out of the grocery store I decided to stand outside and soak in the sun, when I noticed a white truck pull up in front of a car who’s owner was out looking at his engine. Without hesitation the truck driver asked if he needed any help or a boost. I wasn’t close enough to hear what they were saying but there was lots of laughter, which warmed my heart.

I pass by this little tomato stand on a daily basis and never really gave it much of a thought. But its such a huge example of neighbours helping each other out, we didn’t have a “need for free” so we donated a toonie for two large tomatoes, I hope they know the impact they have.

Moving from the city to a rural area and small town I won’t lie I was concerned that we would encounter more backwards (also known as a$$holes) thinking people. But low and behold we live in such an ACTIVE inclusive community, where people take to the streets, fly flags and show up for people with less privilege. And the key word here is definitely active, where even in the city that is hard to find.

I smiled all afternoon after one of my co-workers came by and dropped off some coffee.

Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.

For the most part, my week of observation only included a very small area; a walk around the block on my lunch hour, a quick trip to the grocery store and driving home. When I made a conscious effort to see the good the whimsy and kind while out and about I was gifted with some very special moments.
