Tired of doing the same old thing for date night, group events or family time? How about being a hero? This is where the traditional dinner and a movie take a backseat. It’s time to put YOURSELF in the action! You and your friends are now a team, working to save the last known dragon egg, preventing their extinction. Okay, now just where would a dragon egg be in Toronto?! In a castle of course! Where else? Join Secret City Adventures for their newest escape room experience, The Dragon’s Song – taking place at Casa Loma. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek through Travel Massive’s media night event! What makes The Dragon’s Song so unique is that it’s the first experience from Secret City Adventures that’s completely fantasy. You’re lead through several floors at the top of the castle by a confident Knight and a kooky Alchemist to find clues and spells to rescue the dragons! I was impressed with the quality of the puzzles, which were much more technologically advanced than I’m used to with other escape room’s I’ve participated in. Some of the reveals really felt like magic! The rooms themselves were just as magical. We passed through a dragon’s lair, peeked into a mystical mirror and searched for pendants under the guidance of our trusty Knight and Alchemist. I’m not always confident in escape rooms, sometimes I find them really difficult. When we hit a snag in solving a few puzzles, the actors would gently offer clues or subtly point us in the right direction, which didn’t give away too much, but was greatly appreciated to keep the game moving! I was in a room filled with other bloggers for this event, some of whom I’ve never met before. We quickly began working together and offering ideas, which was a great way to break the ice and make new friends. It was so much fun rushing from station to station trying to crack codes and beat the 60 minute time limit- the pressure was on! I don’t want to give away much else, but we may have even met a dragon! ;) I loved how interactive this experience was and a lot of the credit goes to the actor’s working with our team. They were just wonderful at ad-libbing and had us laughing the whole evening. They were genuinely helpful and didn’t make us feel silly if we had to repeat a puzzle a few times. I also really enjoyed the location, I mean, is there be a more perfect setting for this game? It was my first visit inside Casa Loma, so it was a really unique way to see it for the first time. While the escape room was just the right amount of difficultly for adults, you can also experience it with children ages 8+ during the 1pm and 3pm ‘easy’ mode games. The experience runs 7 days a week starting November 1, 2019. If you can’t find a time slot that works for you and your group, you’re encouraged to contact Secret City Adventures in regards to booking a private experience, which sounds like so much fun to me! Another addition you can add, that was so gracefully provided for us, is the option of having food and drinks put out in a private room for you and your guests to enjoy before and after the game. They can even provide cake’s if you are celebrating a special occasion! We had a beautiful charcuterie spread for our group and we really enjoyed it! Please visit Secret City Adventure’s website for more details on booking and snag tickets since they are sure to fly fast! https://www.secretcityadventures.com/dragon/
