This product was something I had planned on reviewing and sharing my experiences from the get go. However to my surprise, and skepticism, it didn't involve any drama or high emotions like fear as I was completely expecting it to. Here is my un-sponsored un-requested review of Thinx. (Period Panties)
I would like to take a moment to thank Facebook for repeatedly sharing ads for this product, and Mila Kunis for being like hey girl buy these. Like who wouldn't buy something Mila attached herself to (note to future companies). Also note to anyone wanting to sell me something, put it in a Facebook ad and I will eventually break down and buy it.
I didn't have to wait long for my new panties to arrive, shipping was quick and ordering them was a breeze. The packaging amused me, but having to wait a few weeks until my next period I shoved them into my drawer forgetting about them. I ordered the high waist because of its holding capabilities (claims of two tampons worth) plus I liked the look of what they call the "shmexy mesh". At $38.00 it isn't cheap (for underwear) but I could eventually see the savings. I spent two nights where I would usually wear an overnight pad with just the panties.
So the week had arrived, and I was a little more excited despite my bloating and cramps. And guess what day it happened to arrive? The day of my best friends wedding, and me as a bridesmaid. In my opinion you couldn't pay for better testing grounds.
Day starts; period is heavy and in full swing. While getting my beauty on with hair and makeup I am still wearing boring regular underwear and a pad (Kotex is my brand of choice). After changing into my dress I put on my brand new protection, which were seriously comfortable, the high waist made me feel a little bit more pulled together (bloating is fun). And did I mention the "Shmexy mesh"? They actually looked kinda cute. During the twelve hours I did use two back up pads as precaution, because I was at my heaviest and quite frankly a bit of a chicken, even so I have NEVER been so worry free when it came to my period. I sat, I danced I posed for pictures with no thought to what was going on down there.
That night I decided to take full advantage and see if they could hold its ground. I wore the panties with no back up and slept like a baby for 8 hrs, with zero leaks. The great thing also is that you DO NOT feel wet. I woke up feeling clean and if it wasn't for the expanded tummy and twitches that my endometrium produces, I could have forgotten for a moment I even had my period.
Clean Up; so this part made me a little nervous, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Reality was I have leaked in my underwear before and had to rinse them, this was about the same. Rinsing took about 30 seconds.
The only dilemma I had was that I only had one pair. I was able to use them twice throughout my period. After rinsing/washing regularly and laying flat to dry it took some time to put them back into rotation.
Considering that through my trial run, the only issue was that I didn't actually own enough panties, is a pretty good indicator that they are exactly what they promise to be. Worry free leak resistant, comfortable moisture-wicking and kinda pretty to look at. CHECK THEM OUT HERE
